The Lady of Khartoum Reviewed in The Penguin Guide to Jazz
The ninth edition of the revered Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings, released in December, features an exciting new entry about the Fewell/Hofbauer Duo's The Lady of Khartoum (filed under Fewell's name). Author/editors Richard Cook and Brian Morton declare, "this extraordinary duo session makes most of Bill Frisell’s records seem one-dimensional."

Creative Nation Music Reviews in the Latest Signal To Noise
Nathan Turk's long-awaited joint review of The Lady of Khartoum and Myth Understanding has finally been published in the newly arrived Winter 2009 issue of Signal To Noise. In it, he calls Eric Hofbauer & The Infrared Band "a lithe, smart quartet" and credits the Fewell/Hofbauer Duo with showing that "jazz’s family tree has some pretty deep roots."

February Releases From Garrison Fewell and Ayn Inserto
On February 17th, Creative Nation Music will kick-off the celebration of its 5th anniversary with the release of two new recordings, Garrison Fewell's Variable Density Sound Orchestra (CNM 014) and The Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra's Muse (CNM 015). This is Fewell's second release for the label, following 2008's The Lady of Khartoum (CNM 010) with fellow guitarist Eric Hofbauer, and the label debut of Ms. Inserto's longstanding 17-piece ensemble featuring special guest, George Garzone.

Creative Nation Music to Celebrate its 5th Anniversary in 2009
Back in early 2004, CNM Productions started actively releasing new recordings from Boston's best local jazz talent under the Creative Nation Music banner.
