Jazziz
Reviews Variable Density Sound Orchestra
Jon Garelick reviews Garrison Fewell's Variable
Density Sound Orchestra in the Summer 2009 issue of Jazziz.
He writes, "Solos throughout the recording are eloquent rather
than indulgent, and the 'density' of textures always remain lucid."
Eric Hofbauer Wins Mass. Cultural Council Artist Fellowship
We're incredibly proud to announce that our founder, Eric
Hofbauer, has been honored with the 2009 Massachusetts
Cultural Council Artist Fellowship in Music Composition. He
plans to use the $10,000 cash award to compose new music for The
Infrared Band, complete a new book on modern improvisation methods,
and mix and master his forthcoming solo recording, American
Fear.

Density Sound Orchestra (CNM 014), as well as his long
and distinguished career as a performer and educator.
Our Fifth Anniversary Celebrations Were
A Big Success
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the label and its artists
this spring in celebration of our fifth anniversary. It was great
fun touring around New England sharing our music, especially the
Creative Nation Music Festival in late March here in Boston. Thanks
again!
